Weaving relationships.
Finding leverage.
Transforming practice.
We're architects, designers, and built environment professionals who believe that transforming our industry requires more than technical knowledge—it demands new ways of thinking, relating, and acting.
Rarely do organizations make the space and time, or provide the support, for deeper dialogue and capacity building beyond technical application - that’s where we come in. Loom and Lever brings like-minded practitioners together to challenge inherited defaults, cultivate right relationship, and find strategic leverage points for systemic change.
In monthly zoom calls we explore topics that expand the boundaries of business as usual, establishing and strengthening a network of individual change-makers.

FAQs
-
Professionals questioning the dominant extractive systems we’re operating within and interested in exploring regenerative alternatives. Many of us work in the built environment industry, but that is not a requirement for participation.
This space is for those who want to take meaningful action aligned with their values, who aren’t afraid to have courageous conversations, and want to engage regularly with a group of peers with shared values to find inspiration and accountability.
If you are a fan of the work of Joanna Macy, Donella Meadows, Jason Hickel, John Fullerton, Nora Bateson, Robin Wall Kimmerer, Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, Nate Hagans, or Jem Bendell, and want to explore how to bring their ideas into your daily practice — this community is for you. -
Our community meets monthly on Zoom for an hour. Each month we identify a topic or theme for our discussion, which may be accompanied by an article, video, podcast, or some other reference that can provide helpful context for participants - though you will still be able to participate in the discussion if you haven’t reviewed the material.
-
Participation in the community is free!
If you’d like to make a monthly donation to help support the ongoing development of this work and LOOM&LEVER overall, you can do so here!

If you have a sustainability role in an architecture or engineering firm or a construction company, there’s another community I’d like to introduce you to: Green Commons.
Through Green Commons’ Peer Networks, professionals who are a part of or leading sustainability efforts within architecture and design, engineering, or construction companies gather to discuss emerging industry trends and shared shared challenges, and to co-create tools and resources that advance the broader industry. Members have access to an online community platform, participate in various member-led working groups or initiatives, and are eligible to attend an annual in-person summit and shoulder events around key industry conferences like AIA, Greenbuild, and Living Future.Having been a former member of the networks and now a part of the scaffolding team, I cannot recommend the Green Commons peer networks enough. While the Loom and Lever community may have some overlap with conversation topics explored in our calls, the Green Commons Peer Networks provide an invaluable resource for ongoing support, learning, and camaraderie for sustainability leaders in the built environment.
