the
built environment - and the materials from which it is constructed - have massive impacts on people and planet.

Architects & Designers have an opportunity - and an obligation - to address those impacts.

We’re here to help.

loom and lever is a systems oriented design practice

We weave together stakeholders throughout the built environment to support leverage points for systemic change. Our work is at the intersection of projects and initiatives, and our focus is on efforts that support a circular materials economy, product transparency, and peer learning for building industry professionals.

Loom references the weaving of ideas, relationships, and systems — a handcrafted, holistic, meditative approach.
Lever is a nod to the power of strategic shifts—small interventions that generate outsized, lasting change.

Meet our founder

Our Philosophy

‘Business as Usual’ is no longer serving us, and we must change the way we approach design - and the materials we design and build with - urgently.

Systems change involves everyone, and it is best accomplished through the use of strategic leverage points.

We can’t solve our problems using the same thinking that created them. and we certainly can’t solve them alone.

Regenerative solutions are rooted in right relationship.

If we seek to change the world, we must start with ourselves - not in the sense of self-improvement for individual gain, but to cultivate the awareness needed to act in service of the whole.

Our Values

right
relationship

We believe in giving time and space to nurture transformational relationships - not just investing in transactional ones. Often this means prioritizing the process over the outcome, without knowing where it may lead.

Commitment to unlearning

We acknowledge the harmful, extractive nature of the systems upon which the status quo was built, and are committed to questioning assumptions, asking ‘why’ and ‘who benefits’

Intentional
Impact

Once you know better, you have a responsibility to do better. No action is neutral - it either supports or resists the status quo. We’re committed to acting with intention to disrupt the status quo.

rooted
wisdom

We value sources of knowledge that may not be actively recognized or promoted by mainstream academic or professional practice, including embodied and indigenous wisdom traditions.
